SNOW Sky looms as a legitimate chance to give jockey Damian Oliver his fifth Caulfield Cup win, the big mover with TAB post today’s barrier draw.
The five-year-old firmed from $15 to $12 after drawing ideally in barrier three.
“Ollie’s out to break a 16-year drought in the Caulfield Cup and the draw has boosted his chances,” TAB’s Adam Hamilton said.
Classy mare Rising Romance was another firmer, in from $14 to $12 after drawing gate two.
Mongolian Khan, a luckless and eye-catching third to Criterion in last Saturday’s Group 1 Caulfield Stakes, remains favourite at $4.80. The Kiwi stayer did ease slightly from $4.60 after drawing barrier nine.
Last year’s VRC Oaks winner Set Square was one of the most notable drifters, out from $8 to $9 after drawing wide (gate 16).
Oliver’s previous Cup wins have been on: Mannerism (1992), Paris Lane (1994), Doriemus (1995) and Sky Heights (1999).
