In-form mare Sheila's Star has been nominated for a stakes race in Adelaide this weekend as a precaution against missing a start in the Listed Anniversary Vase on her home track at Caulfield.

Trainer Mick Price Mick Price is hoping she can join stablemate Testa My Patience in Saturday's Anniversary Vase (1400m) but has entered her in the Listed City Of Adelaide Hcp (1400m) at Morphettville with the field for the Caulfield race restricted by the rail placement.

"I'm going accept for both races with Sheila's Star," Price said.

"They've got the rail out 13 metres at Caulfield, so they are only running 12 (plus four emergencies).

"My preference is Caulfield as I don't have to travel her as long as she draws well.

"I'm ninety per cent sure I want to run her at Caulfield."

Sheila's Star is number 14 in the ballot order and is after her fourth straight win. Glen Boss has been engaged for Sheila's Star at Caulfield while Peter Mertens will partner Testa My Patience.

"They both should run well. Testa My Patience should be charging home but he's going to be more suited at a mile (1600m)," Price said.

"I've just been on the wrong leg with him. I wasn't happy with his first up run at Moonee Valley.

"He was fair in the Victoria Handicap and he'll run a lot better on Saturday."

Testa My Patience, who won the Group Two Crystal Mile (1600m) at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate Day last spring, was spelled after finishing 11th to Albert The Fat in the Group One Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington last spring .

The five-year-old ran seventh of eight behind Outlandish Lad first-up over 1200m at Moonee Valley on March 16.

The gelding ran on from ninth to be beaten 3-1/2 lengths when fourth to Smokin' Joey in the Group Three Victoria Hcp (1400m) at Caulfield on April 7.

Sheila's Star is in top form winning over 1419m at Sale before claiming successive 1400m races at Caulfield against her own sex.

"I've only had her for four starts and I would think she deserves a good show at a black type race," Price said.

The Snitzel four-year-old is a half-sister to Listed Tattersall's Mile winner Jacqueline Rouge being out of the Group Three Blue Diamond Preview winner Northeast Sheila.

"If she can get black type it will help her pedigree page and help her as a broodmare," Price said.

"She's had 18 starts and I'm not sure there's another 18 starts in her.

"So it would be good to nail some black type while we have the opportunity."
