Chris Waller’s imported stayer He’s Your Man has been penalised 1kg for the Caulfield Cup after his win in last Saturday’s Kingston Town Stakes at Rosehill, reports Racing Network.

Racing Victoria chief handicapper Greg Carpenter issued the rehandicap on Monday, taking He’s Your Man’s weight for the Caulfield Cup from 50kg to 51kg.

More importantly, it moved He’s Your Man from equal 94th to equal 54th in the Cup order of entry.

But, He’s Your Man will still have to win a ballot-exempt race or another race where he’s liable for a rehandicap if he’s to forge his way into the Cup field of 18.

Carpenter said He’s Your Man, a listed race winner in France, ran to his European rating of 109 with his Kingston Town win.

He said it was the same penalty he had issued to the past two winners of the Kingston Town — Prince Cheri(2013) and Stout Hearted (2012).

Herculian Prince is the last Kingston Town Stakes winner to contest the Caulfield Cup, finishing ninth in 2010.

The last horse to place in the Caulfield Cup after winning the Kingston Town Stakes, then known as the STC Stakes, was the champion himself — Kingston Town, who finished third in the 1980 Cup.

Under the new conditions introduced this year for the Caulfield Cup by the Melbourne Racing Club, horses are now ranked in order of their weight below the handicapping benchmark and then by their peak international rating since October 18,  2013.

Under the latter clause, Puissance de Lune and Spillway, who finished third and fourth in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes, both moved up the order of entry on Monday.

Puissance de Lune ran to an international rating of 115 and consequently moves from equal 19th to equal 15th, while Spillway ran to a rating of 113 to improve his ranking from 40 to 36.
