FORMER European stayer Seville is guaranteed a start in the Melbourne Cup following his Metropolitan victory last Saturday at Randwick, reports Racing Network. Seville moved to No 25 in the elimination order for the Melbourne Cup after he was penalised 1kg for his Metropolitan victory.

Racing Victoria handicapper Neil Jennings today announced the re-handicaps to Seville and Araldo, which won the Listed Bart Cummings on protest.

The Lloyd Williams-owned horse will now carry 54.5kg in the Melbourne Cup while he also received a 1kg penalty in the Caulfield Cup, which takes his weight to 54.5kg.

While the penalty saw Seville moved to equal No 8 on the Caulfield Cup order of entry, Williams said yesterday that the Cox Plate would be his next start.

Third declarations for the Caulfield Cup will be takenon Tuesday.

Already, Williams has a strong Melbourne Cup hand with Green Moon, Sea Moon, Masked Marvel and Mourayan all in the top 30 in the Cup elimination order.
