South Australian millionaire Happy Trails is tracking well towards another trip to Melbourne for the Spring Racing Carnival.
Trainer Paul Beshara reported that last year’s Group 1 Emirates Stakes winner had thrived since returning to his Morphettville stable two weeks ago and he is convinced he is a better horse.
That’s all the encouragement the jovial trainer needed to lock in the same campaign as last year, starting with the Group 3 Spring Stakes (1200m) in Adelaide on 10 August.
“After that he’ll do the Memsie, the Dato, the Turnbull, the Cox Plate and then maybe the Emirates again, but that’ll depend on his weight,” Beshara said.
“He had five weeks off after Sydney, he’s been back in work a fortnight and he’s done really well.
“He’s just doing some slow work and a bit of pace work at the moment, but next week I’ll hit him up with a bit of evens and as he comes to hand we’ll take him to the next stage.
“But he’s a lot more mature horse now. He knows what it’s all about.”
