The Grp 2/3 winner is currently trained by Sir Michael Stoute and will head to Tulloch Lodge after tackling Sunday's Grp 1 Hong Kong International Vase (2400m) at Sha Tin. "Carlton House looks the perfect candidate to race in Australia where there are a considerable number of options for an older horse," says John Warren, bloodstock and racing advisor for the Queen.
Craig Williams is reported to be delighted by the way veteran Alcopop worked at Sha Tin in Hong Kong on Tues. Trainer Jake Stephens sent Williams out to give the 8YO an easyworkout. He says: "He's fit, he's well. We didn't want him to do too much more than even time this morning. It was more about just getting him more familiar with the track and the winning post." Alcopop will run in the $US2.5 million Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin on Sunday. Williams says: "I was really happy with him...I didn't want him to do any more than slot into a nice rhythm and teach him where the winning post is...He felt very sharp."
