Blue Diamond favourite Fontiton will resume in the Blue Diamond Preview at Sportingbet Park on Australia Day, reports Racing Network.

Trainer Robert Smerdon noted that while Fontiton collected $173,000 with her six-length debut win in the Inglis Banner the money does not count towards a Blue Diamond berth as it was a restricted race for horses sold at an Inglis sale.

Fontiton has held sway at the top of the Blue Diamond market since she demolished her rivals at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate day.

Initially, there were suggestions that Fontiton may run in the Maribyrnong Plate, but Smerdon opted instead to send her to the paddock.

sportsbet.com.au rates Fontiton as a $3.70 Diamond favourite with the Mick Price-trained Secret Agenda second favourite at $5 just in front of Godolphin's Furnaces at $5.50.

Smerdon said Fontiton had been back at his Caulfield stables for a few weeks while stablemate Thurlow had only just returned.

He said it was more than likely that Thurlow, winner of the Merson Cooper Stakes, would return in the Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) at Caulfield on February 8.

Thurlow is a $15 chance for the Blue Diamond.
