Robert Smerdon’s unbeaten filly Fontiton stayed at the top of Blue Diamond betting after drawing barrier one at today’s special function.

The Group 1 $1 million Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) will be run at Caulfield on Saturday and the long-time favourite will now start from the best barrier.

Late-entry Pride Of Dubai also drew well in gate five, as too did Inglis Classic winner Stoker in barrier six.

The John O’Shea-trained Godolphin entry Bantam drew well in gate three, while the other late-entry, Manhattan Blues, did not fare so well coming up with barrier 14.

Robert Smerdon’s other runner, Thurlow, will start from barrier 8 and David Hayes and Tom Dabernig have three fillies engaged – Claudia Jean (2), Air Apparent (4) and Reemah (13).

Unbeaten colt Of The Brave has drawn in the middle of the field in gate nine, while Gai Waterhouse’s Flamboyant Lass will start from the outside gate in 15.
