UNBEATEN colt Fighting Sun is out of the Golden Slipper. Gai Waterhouse says Fighting Sun pulled up sore after winning the Canonbury Stakes at Randwick yesterday, reports Racing Network.

Fighting Sun, a son of Northern Meteor who won on debut at Rosehill in early January, is currently at the Randwick Equine Centre.

"We'll just have to see what transpires in the next few days," Waterhouse said. "He pulled up sore. He's out of the Slipper."

Fighting Sun was a $6 second favorite for the Slipper behind Earthquake, who tops the TAB market at $4.80. Earthquake is also favourite for Saturday's Blue Diamond

Waterhouse said the injury to Fighting Sun was "most disappointing" for the owners (Sun Bloodstock).

"They are overseas people who have spent a lot of money in Australia and were so excited to have a really live chance going to the Slipper," Waterhouse said. "He's such a good horse, but that's unfortunately how things can happen."
