Sydney galloper Under the Sun is heading south to take on Melbourne Cup favourite Puissance de Lune in Saturday's P.B Lawrence Stakes (1400m). The Gai Waterhouse-trained runner was disappointing as an easing favourite behind Coup Ay Tee in the Winter Challenge at Rosehill Gardens last start.

Leading Melbourne jockey Craig Williams has been booked for the ride on Under the Sun.

Puissance de Lune stretched his legs during an exhibition gallop between races at Flemington last Saturday and is in terrific order according to jockey Glen Boss.

"He just cantered along. He was never out there to do anything, but he's in great shape. I'm really excited," Boss said.

"There's a long way to go but he's really good. I wouldn't want to be riding any other horse heading into the Melbourne Cup at this stage."

Puissance de Lune had only one run in the autumn, dead-heating with Budriguez in the Group 2 Blamey Stakes at Flemington.

Leading apprentice Chad Schofield is set to ride Pago Rock for David Hayes in the P.B. Lawrence. (www.racingnetwork.com.au)
