The hype surrounding Oscietra is set to intensify over the Christmas period after the daughter of Black Caviar won another jump-out at Flemington on Friday morning.

Showing exceptional early speed from the barriers once again, the Exceed and Excel filly travelled strongly under the guidance of Luke Nolen, edging clear of the Freedman-trained Bookbuild in the concluding stages.

Her time of 48.21 seconds for the 800m jump-out was quicker than the 49.94 she recorded a fortnight ago in her first public appearance.

Co-trainer David Hayes is leaning towards running Oscietra at Flemington on New Year's Day with the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes suggested as an autumn target.

"I think she has made really good improvement from her first jump-out to her second, and Luke [Nolen] was very happy with her," David Hayes said on Friday morning.

"The time looked quite solid, and I think she's on target to run on the first of January at Flemington.

"I think against fillies up the straight should be ideal for her, she's got a lovely big action.

"Her mother ran her first run up the straight at Flemington so it could be a good omen."

Hayes has indicated it is likely we will only see Oscietra run once this preparation, with the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes suggested as an autumn target.

"We'll just see how she runs, if everything goes right, I would like to just back her off a little bit, and then maybe run her in a Blue Diamond Prelude," Hayes said.

"With a filly of that value, if she can get some black type in her first prep, it would be just terrific.

"Things come around pretty quickly, the prelude is at the end of January, so she might have a month between runs."
