DANNY Nikolic's bid to re-establish himself as one of the state's leading jockeys received a boost yesterday when he gained the ride on high-quality four-year-old Mic Mac in Saturday week's Memsie Stakes, reports The Age.

It says: The ride on Mic Mac became available after stewards at Caulfield on Saturday outed Damien Oliver for 15 meetings for causing interference on Vigor in the Anniversary Sprint.

While Nikolic was also suspended for 10 meetings at Caulfield, the former leading jockey will be back in time to ride Mic Mac, one of the fancies for the Cox Plate following his victory in the Aurie's Star Stakes at Flemington nine days ago. Mic Mac, trained by Greg Eurell, is an $18 chance for the Cox Plate, at Moonee Valley on October 24, behind the $6 favourite Whobegotyou.
