SWEEPSTAKING may not be in the class of stablemate Military Rose, but she is making her own headlines landing a big betting move at Eagle Farm, reports Bart Sinclair in the Brisbane Courier-Mail.

His report adds: Sweepstaking produced a tremendous finish to win the Racing Retro Handicap by two lengths. It was a carbon copy of her finish at the Gold Coast a fortnight ago when she came from nearly last at the home turn to score narrowly.

Just as at the Coast, Sweepstaking landed some huge bets as she firmed from $3.80 to run a clear favourite at $2.80. Trainer Gillian Heinrich, still on a high from her Magic Millions Classic success with Military Rose last week, now has to turn her attention to a program for Sweepstaking.

The Not A Single Doubt filly has had only two runs back from a break and there will be a temptation to take her to Sydney for the autumn along with Military Rose. There are other options. The filly could have another run or two and then be rested to prepare for the winter carnival. Sweepstaking has tremendous acceleration and she impressed rider Stathi Katsidis with the way she quickly took care of her opposition.
