DAMIEN Oliver moved within one win of a share of the premiership lead with his victory on South Australian Qadir, but for the second consecutive meeting it came at a cost.

Racing Victoria stewards suspended Oliver for seven meetings on a careless riding charge in that he permittedQadir to shift out near the 100 metre mark causing Mightiest to be be checked and tightened.

Oliver pleaded guilty to the charge, but noted that some degree of the blame had to be attributed to the horse wanting to run out.

He also said there was a contributing factor from Stratigraphy shifting in, but stewards said that was only minimal.

Oliver’s latest suspension will begin when the one he incurred after winning on Secret Agenda at Moonee Valley last night ends.

The Moonee Valley suspension runs from midnight tonight until midnight on December 19 and that’s where today’s suspension will begin.

Oliver can resume riding at Moonee Valley on December 27.

He trails Dwayne Dunn by one win on the metropolitan jockey’s premiership. (Racing Network)
