ALREADY riding the crest of a winning wave, Rosehill trainer Tim Martin is out to snare more Christmas riches at Randwick on Saturday when Scouting Wide lines up in the Summer Cup, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

It adds: Martin has been churning out the winners over the past month with Scouting Wide scoring strongly in the Christmas Cup at Rosehill just more than a week ago. Last year, trainer Gerald Ryan produced handy mare Ready To Lift to win the Christmas Cup-Summer Cup double.

''We'll definitely be going around in the Summer Cup, providing he gets through the next week in good shape and there's no reason that won't happen,'' Martin said yesterday. ''The original plan was to spell him after the Christmas Cup but he ate up when we took him home after that race and he ate up the next night.

''He is absolutely thriving so I could see no reason not to run him in the Summer Cup.''

Jockey Tye Angland sent Scouting Wide to the front in the Christmas Cup and he ran the field along to ensure a solid staying test.

Despite being challenged in the straight by the Chris Waller-trained Bright Mind, Scouting Wide found plenty under pressure to prevail. ''It will be a different sort of race at Randwick than it was at Rosehill,'' Martin said.
