Chris Waller’s crack Group 1 miler, Boban, trialled brilliantly at Warwick Farm this morning. Boban settled midfield in fifth position in the 1200-metre heat, before moving to the middle of the track in the home straight.

The last start 2.6 length fifth behind Dissident in the Group 1 $400,000 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington then showed a sizzling turn of foot to put the trial away quickly and race away to win by several lengths.

Waller gave Boban a serious gallop in today’s trial as he heads towards defending his title in the Group 1 $500,000 Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Royal Randwick next Saturday.

He won the race with 53kgs last year, but has since won the Group 1 Emirates Stakes and Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes, thus he will carry top weight of 58kgs this year. (Racing Network)
