"Until the Todman Stakes a fortnight back, the previously unbeaten Sepoy seemed to have a mortgage on the race following his demolition job on the Blue Diamond Stakes field," Crispe said. "But all that changed when he was beaten by Smart Missile in the Todman - and there was no element of fluke about that colt's winning performance. Smart Missile ran to a Timeform rating of 122 in winning the Todman, a figure close to par with the five-year winning average Timeform rating for the race and only a pound under what is usually required to win a Golden Slipper."
