Glen Boss is convinced that Smart Missile is a world beater. Had he not been a late scratching in the Golden Slipper he'd have beaten Sepoy in the 2YO classis, according to Bossy, who just had to shake his head in disbelief over Smart Missile's stunning last to first win in Sat's Run To The Rose at Rosehill. I rode his father Fastnet Rock and he was the best three-year-old I have ridden - we never got to see the best of him. But this fellow has got him covered.'

Smart Missile's trainer Anthony Cummings reckons the colt is the best horse he's had. He says: 'He's just an amazing animal...At the furlong I'd given up but he's just an extraordinary horse...When Karuta Queen kicked clear and he was still last I thought 'well this is impossible' but he's an amazing animal...Only a very short list of horses can do that...He has improvement in him...'

NZ star Jimmy Choux may race only three more times before being retired to stud. Connections revealed the plan after the newly crowned Kiwi horse of the year turned in a powerful finale to finish 2nd to sprinter of the year Mufhasa when resuming in the $200,000 Makfi Challenge Stakes 1400m at Hastings. Jimmy will have one more race at Hastings next month, and then tackle the $3 million Cox Plate at Moonee Valley on Oct 22 and the $HK20 million ($2.44m) Hong Kong Mile at Sha Tin in December. Will connections change their mind after that? Probably.
