Big win...The Peter Moody-trained Cadillac Mountain  (PPD Club chief Brian Blackwell's headlined best bet for the day) came with a strong finale wide out to win Thursday's $80,000 Werribee Cup (2000m).

Patiently ridden by gun young jockey Chad Schofield, Cadillac Mountain was nearer last than first turning for home, but charged down the middle of the track to grab Khutulun on the line.

Schofield later said drawing barrier one had always been a problem.

“Barrier one was the worst possible barrier for me because he was always going to get back,” he said.

“I tried to get off the fence on the first turn and eventually I did get into the third wide line with cover,” he added.

"I knew I was on the best stayer and although I was a long way back turning, I just let him go through his gears and I knew he’d keep coming,” he said.

Cadillac Mountain ($4.60 fav) beat Khutulun ($6) by a neck with a length away to Phantom Brew ($26) in third.

Stephanie Lane, speaking on behalf of Peter Moody, said it was a tough, brave win and a good ride as the inside barrier was always going to pose a problem for Schofield.
