Apprentice Nyssa Burrells will have her sedation reduced after being put in an induced coma following a fall.

Apprentice Nyssa Burrells has been slowly opening her eyes after a week in an induced coma in Liverpool Hospital following a fall.

Racing NSW's Dr David Duckworth said on Friday Burrells was still sedated but hopefully that would be decreased over the next few days.

Burrells was riding a horse which fell and landed on top of her in the jump-outs last Friday at Warwick Farm.

She underwent surgery to relieve a bleed on her brain and was placed in the induced coma.
