In-form apprentice Dean Holland will be looking to keep his hot streak going at the Caulfield Boxing Day meeting on Friday where he has six rides.

The pint-sized Holland, who weighs 46kg, has ridden 11 metropolitan winners in Melbourne in less than a month, starting with Happy Glen at Moonee Valley on November 29.

He has ridden three city doubles - at Moonee Valley on December 5, Sandown last Wednesday and Flemington on Saturday.

"Since the spring carnival the opportunities have opened up for me," Holland said.

"Everything is going well at the moment so hopefully it continues."

He is now aiming to outride his 1.5kg allowance in town before his apprenticeship expires on April 1.

Having ridden 60 city winners he has another 20 to go.

Holland's mounts include two for Flemington trainer Dean Lawson - Itsamonty in the Christmas Stakes (1200m) and El Martini in the Ken Sturt Hcp (1400m).

He rides Elbrus in the Lord Stakes (1700m) for Wodonga trainer Brian Cox; Lisson Grove for his boss David Hayes in the Frank O'Brien Hcp (1100m); last start Flemington winner Youthful High in the Brian Green Hcp (1800m) for Warrnambool co-trainers Bill and Symon Wilde; and Constant Cheers in the Allan Wicks Hcp (2380m) for Tom Hughes.

Holland is undefeated in two rides on Itsamonty, winning the Frankston Cup (1200m) at Cranbourne on November 9 and over 1200m at Sandown on November 22.

The seven-year-old subsequently ran a close fourth to Orbit Express when ridden by apprentice Logan McGill over 1400m at Caulfield on December 6.

Itsamonty is topweight with 58kg in the Listed event in which both the chestnut and Holland are shooting for their first stakes success.

El Martini is chasing his fourth straight win after victories at Seymour, Cranbourne and at the Moonee Valley might meeting on December 5.

Lawson has freshened up the four-year-old since his half-neck win over Magic Jet over 1509m.

Holland has ridden the gelding three times for two wins.

Meanwhile Craig Williams returns to the local scene after an overseas trip to ride in his third World Super Jockey Series in Japan in early December after which he took a 10-day holiday with his wife Larysa and her family in the Ukraine.

Williams, who won the Series last year, finished fourth this year behind Frenchman Ioritz Mendizabal.

Chasing his fourth successive Victorian metropolitan premiership, Williams hasn't ridden in Melbourne since landing a double at Sandown on December 3 but holds the lead with 27 winners, two ahead of his nearest rival Damien Oliver.

His seven mounts on Boxing Day include Zyzxx in the Christmas Stakes and Amberino in the Lord Stakes - both for the John Moloney stable.

Williams won the Lord Stakes on Ulysses three years ago.
