Anthony Cummings will know how much Magic Millions firepower he has at his disposal after Randwick's New Year's Day meeting.

Cummings is targeting three horses at the Gold Coast racing extravaganza and the trio will wind up their Magic Millions preparations on Saturday.

He expects at least one - the talented mare Tallow - to emerge as a genuine chance of collecting a slice of the $4.3 million on offer at the January 15 meeting.

Tallow will run in a fillies and mares handicap over 1400m with leading jockey Nash Rawiller in the saddle.

The mare, part-owned by Magic Millions frontman John Singleton, is being set for a $200,000 race against her own sex at the Gold Coast.

Now a four-year-old, Tallow missed the autumn and spring carnivals before starting a summer campaign with an unplaced effort in the Razor Sharp at Randwick on December 18.

She was beaten five lengths into 10th place to Swift Alliance but Cummings was far from disheartened by the result.

"It wasn't a race for the run-on horses so taking that into account I thought her performance was sound," Cummings said.

"She will be back in grade on Saturday so I'm expecting something."

Tallow, the winner of three races from nine starts, will be trying to avenge a heartbreaking loss in this year's Magic Millions Trophy.

Coming from 10th on the turn, Tallow finished resolutely to be narrowly beaten by Graceful Anna in the $1 million race.

Veteran stayer Red Lord has been entered for the Tattersall's Club Cup and a benchmark race as his final lead-up to a start in the Magic Millions Stayers Cup.

Cummings said he was leaning towards the easier - and shorter - of the two races.

"I'll probably start him in the benchmark over 1600 metres despite the fact he'll get a lot of weight," Cummings said.

Red Lord finished alongside Tallow in 11th place in the Razor Sharp - his first run since he was down the course in the Stradbroke Handicap.

Cummings's two-year-old Lovetheoneyourwith will be racing to confirm her Magic Millions bona fides.

The filly disappointed behind Hot Snitzel when sporting silks for the first time at Rosehill on December 11.

"If she runs well and earns enough money on Saturday to qualify her then she'll go up to the Gold Coast," Cummings said.

With a meagre $3200 in stakes, Lovetheoneyourwith was 34th in the latest order of entry for the $2 million Magic Millions Classic (1200m).
