Dermot's heading back...Irish trainer Dermot Weld is planning another Melbourne Cup attack with Profound Beauty, who ran 5th last year. She boosted her Cup hopes with a successful seasonal debut in the At The Races Curragh Cup. The 5YO travelled sweetly for Pat Smullen in the straight and moved up to challenge after long-time leader Mad Rush faded away tamely in the final quarter-mile. Yankee Doodle went on, but Profound Beauty (5/1) soon joined him. Alandi tried to come between the pair but could not get through the gap before it closed, allowing Profound Beauty to keep ahead of his fast finish by a neck. Weld says: 'This was her midsummer target and she's just got tired in the last 100 yards. She's in the Irish Leger, and that's going to be the obvious follow-on from here. The Melbourne Cup is again her end-of-year target. She was only beaten just over two lengths last year and I think she's a stronger filly this time around.'
