Emerging Kiwi superstar Ocean Park is the big shortener in Cox Plate betting after a sensational win in the Grp 1 Underwood Stakes at Caulfield. Betstar chief Alan Eskander was more than impressed, and immediately lifted the NZ star to equal favorite with Pierro (at $5). Betstar chief Alan Eskander was more than impressed, and immediately lifted the NZ star to equal favorite with Pierro (at $5). He told PPD: 'How could he not be the one to beat after that run?...Remember, this horse has only had nine career starts so he's got plenty of upside and Glen Boss was very soft on him at the end. Manighar was ordinary and Southern Speed came from behind him and beat him again. She looks on track for the Caulfield Cup but I'm not sure she could beat Ocean Park at Moonee Valley on today's showing.'

In other news from Betstar...Shoot Out firmed from $41 into $17 for the Cox Plate after his victory in the George Main Stakes at Randwick, but Alan Eskander reckons he still has work to do. He says: 'He ran 4th to SO YOU THINK in the Cox Plate two years ago so you can't dismiss him totally, but he did struggle to get past Rangirangdoo today and he'll need to go to another level if he is to be competitive with the likes of Ocean Park, Pierro andMore Joyous.' import December Draw firmed from $17 to $13 for the Caulfield Cup following his 3rd in the Underwood Stakes. Eskander says: 'It was a nice progression from his run in the Makybe Diva Stakes. He's got unfinished business in the Caulfield Cup after breaking down last year and I'm sure his trainer Mark Kavanagh would love another chance to win the race.' Betstar halved the Caulfield Cup price of Lamasery (from $34 to $17) for his win in the Hill Stakes at Randwick. 'He drops to 53kgs in the Caulfield Cup and is a genuine lightweight threat in the race, says Eskander.

American import Winchester was the big firmer in Melbourne Cup betting with a brilliant first-up effort in the Underwood Stakes. 'His late sectionals were outstanding in a race where they "walked" up front,' says Alan Eskander. 'He's a seriously good horse and will only get better as they stretch him out in distance. That run today will have done him the world of good and we've halved his quote to $21 in the Melbourne Cup on the strength of that run." Winchester is also in from $67 to $26 for the Caulfield Cup.
