Trainers of the superstars seem happy after the Turnbull Stakes showdown...Mark Kavanagh was saying nothing negative about Shocking's effort for 2nd to the old warrior Zipping. Kav says: 'He's better when he gets to the outside but he couldn't do that today and he got stop-started a bit...He'll go next into the Caulfield Cup and he's got a lot of improvement in him yet...Caulfield's not his best track and the Caulfield Cup can be a roughhouse affair but it's the best path to get us to the Melbourne Cup.' Gold Coast trainer John Wallace thought Shoot Out was going to win when he loomed up near the 200m. He says: 'He toughed it out well and you can hardly complain about the way he's going ... We'll let him drop out in the Cox Plate and come steaming home.'

Not so happy...Corey Brown will miss the Caulfield Cup carnival. Stewards hit him with an eight-meeting suspension for careless riding at Sunday's Flemington meeting.Brown pleaded guilty to allowing Muirfield to shift in when not clear of Mukarrar soon after the start of the Listed UCI Stakes (1800m). The eventual winner, Eclair Surprise, clipped heels and blundered in the backwash. Stewards outed Brown from midnight on Sunday until midnight on October 18, ruling the Melbourne Cup-winning jockey out of the Thousand Guineas and Caulfield Cup meetings.
