The Magic Millions raceday at the Gold Coast is in peril as rain continues to lash southeast Queensland. Specials plans have been drawn up to shift the $4.3m Magic Millions raceday to a historic Sunday timeslot if Queensland's 'Big Wet' continues. There are concerns the Gold Coast track could be too rain-affected for racing on Saturday. If this happens, the raceday will move back 24 hours, with Sunday's scheduled fifth session of the MM yearling sales switching to Monday. Gold Coast track manager Steve Andrews says only 5mm fell to 5pm, bringing the seven-day total to 135mm, but rain was still going strong on Tuesday morning. Andrews says: 'We have been very lucky so far and, touch wood, we have missed the bulk of it...Let's hope the forecast for later in the week is right. Even if it rained through until Thursday night and we woke up Friday to a fine day, I would be confident of racing.' On Monday afternoon, the GC track was rated a heavy-10.
