MELBOURNE'S leading trainer, Peter Moody, has isolated a number of his horses, including five-time group 1 winner Typhoon Tracy, as he awaits results on a virus that sidelined several horses in his Sydney autumn carnival team, reports The Age.

It says: Moody said yesterday that blood and urine samples from Typhoon Tracy, Set For Fame, Hanks, Willow Creek, Ocean Dream and Speedy Natalie had been sent to Melbourne University in an attempt to identify the type of virus.

''It's not equine influenza but it's a virus that has affected some of those horses and the best way to cope was to isolate them so as not to spread it through the rest of the team,'' he said. Moody said more tests were being conducted at the Randwick stables where he was housing his Sydney team.
