CONNECTIONS of Frankel, the world's No.1 rated racehorse, have shrugged off suggestions of a clash with unbeaten mare Black Caviar this year, reports The Age.

It says: Lord Grimthorpe, racing manager for owner Prince Khalid Abdullah, said no plans for a proposed race between the world's best two racehorses had been put to the owner.

''Sure, there's been lots of talk but as far as we're concerned Frankel will press on with the plans we have in mind for him during the English spring,'' he said. ''We will be starting Frankel's campaign, I would think, at 1600 metres, and if Black Caviar was to race against him at that distance that would be fine. I saw her win in Australia last weekend and the way she won over 1400 gave the impression that 1600 would be no problem. But that's up to them.

''Henry Cecil [trainer] will decide on the races that [Frankel] runs in and if there was any discussion of match races, that would of course have to be cleared with his owner, Khalid Abdullah.''

Frankel is raced by the Saudi Arabian prince, one of the world's most powerful owners, and a prolific winner of major races in both England and America.
