Kermadec heads Caulfield Stakes betting

DONCASTER winner Kermadec was victorious last start in the George Main Stakes at Randwick on September 15 and he’s favoured to salute again in Saturday’s $400,000 Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m).

The $4.60 favourite for the Cox Plate with tab.com.au heads the betting at $3 in the Caulfield Stakes ahead of the Makybe Diva Stakes winner Fawkner ($4.40) with Contributer and Pornichet both $5 chances.

“The early spring middle-distance form in Sydney is looking strong around the likes of Complacent, Magic Hurricane and Preferment so early support wouldn’t be a surprise for last spring’s Carbine Carb Stakes winner on Derby Day,” TAB’s Trent Langskaill said.

In the $400,000 Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m), Disposition has been installed the $5.50 favourite to go one better than his runner-up finish in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 26.

Lucky Hussler ran sixth in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and has received early backing in the Toorak Handicap ($8 into $6) while Stratum Star – the winner of the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes – is a $6.50 hope.

“The Toorak Handicap is often a wide open affair so it’s no surprise to see the favourite (Disposition) being priced $5.50 after the tight finish that occurred in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes which the favoured gallopers contested,” Langskaill said.
