DARREN Weir is happy with Puissance De Lune’s progress, but the depth of the Makybe Diva Stakes troubles him, reports Racing Network.

Weir nominated the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes as the primary goal for Puissance De Lune when he returned from tendon surgery.

He was trapped deep throughout when first up in the Peter Lawrence Stakes then he finished well for third behindDissident in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes.

But Weir admitted the task confronting Puissance De Lune in the Makybe Diva Stakes was somewhat daunting.

“You would think he would have to improve on what he has been doing,” Weir said.

“We’re just hoping getting back to Flemington and the step up to the mile (1600m) is in his favour.”

Weir said he has been happy with the direction that Puissance De Lune is heading but admitted he would like a bit of give in the ground.

He said he hoped rain earlier today would help provide some 'give' to a track that is listed as a Good 3.

Puissance De Lune is rated by sportsbet.com.au as a $6 third favourite behind **H*Dissident** $3.20 and Boban$4.20.

Weir said Signoff, who contests the Spring Is The Season Handicap, still has a lot of condition on him.

He noted that Signoff was never let down as he was locked away in on the rails when he resumed at Caulfield a fortnight ago.

Weir said he liked the way Prince Of Penzance, who runs in the same race as Signoff, worked with Puissance De Lune at Warrnambool on Monday.

“He’s in good order and he usually runs well second up,” Weir said.
