Brett Prebble makes his return to Melbourne racing at Caulfield on Saturday. The now 35-year-old who left Australia a good rider and has returned one of the world’s great riders, will base himself in Melbourne though the Spring.

He has first call on all of the Lloyd Williams-owned Robert Hickmott-trained stayers preparing for the major Cups.

Prebble’s first ride on Saturday will be on Exceptionally for his old master, Terry O’Sullivan, before he partners Fast N Rocking for David Hayes in the Vain Stakes.

He has also been booked by Gai Waterhouse to ride Swing Vote in the Quezette Stakes later in the program.

Prebble will not be returning to Hong Kong until after Melbourne Cup week.

He won last year’s Cup for Lloyd Williams on Green Moon.
