Military Rose has revived memories of her Magic Millions victory with a stunning return to form in the Gold Coast Guineas but the for sale sign is still nailed to her stable door.

Military Rose scored a five-length win in the 2010 Magic Millions and then secured favouritism for that year's Golden Slipper with a big win in the Riesling Stakes.

Her form tapered off after an unplaced Slipper effort and she was recently listed for sale in the upcoming brood mare sale in June by her trainer Gillian Heinrich and her husband Hoss.

Military Rose led throughout on Saturday for Gold Coast premier jockey Dan Griffin but the win wasn't enough to encourage the Heinrichs to extend her career past June.

"She's done enough for us and she's my favourite horse but she's also a very valuable mare," Gillian Heinrich said.

"She will have another couple of runs before we sale her but there's not much around for her and she struggles past 1200 metres."

Having her first start since an unplaced effort behind Sea Lord at Rosehill in March, Military Rose ($18) led her rivals a merry dance around the Coast circuit to beat Celtic Dancer ($16) by a half-length with Skating On Ice ($17) a neck back third.

The race dented the carnival aspirations of leading three-year-old contenders including Ready To Rip ($3.20) and Spirit Of Boom ($4.60) who was fourth.

Ready To Rip settled worse than midfield off his inside draw but he disappointed in the straight and failed to produce his customary dash to finish sixth.

Spirit Of Boom loomed as a threat halfway up the straight but he tired to finish fourth.

Connections of both horses blamed the wet surface said it was still all systems go toward the carnival.

Military Rose's win was another triumph for Heinrich and Griffin and the leading hoop was elated with the win.

"Gillian has been such a great supporter of mine and it's great to be able to repay her loyalty," he said.
