An inquiry into the race fall in which popular jockey Danny Brereton suffered serious injuries is to be held on Monday.

Jockeys Nick Hall, Mark Zahra, James Winks and Brent Stanley have been asked to attend the inquiry into the incident at Moonee Valley on August 21 in which Brereton's mount Marquee Player fell and Hall came off Hollowlea.

Brereton, 45, suffered spinal injuries but the news this week was that he had regained some movement in his limbs.

He also suffered severe concussion, a hairline fracture in his neck, a punctured lung and broken ribs.

Brereton has had a successful career as a heavyweight jockey over three decades and was one of the first Australians to be licensed to ride in Hong Kong in the 1980s and he has also ridden in Macau, Malaysia and Singapore.
