D-day has arrived for stakes-performed mare Avionics who drops in class for the Leilani Classic at Moonee Valley.

Trainer Robbie Griffiths said the five-year-old mare would have no excuses on Saturday after wide barriers and rain-affected tracks hindered her spring campaign.

"Her trackwork indicates she is in form but her race day form doesn't because all prep she has drawn the outside, had a wet track, or both," Griffiths said.

"She just can't fire from either."

Avionics has been unplaced at her four starts this campaign and Griffiths said if she can't figure in the finish in the 1200m race at the Valley he will terminate her campaign.

"Saturday is D-day," Griffiths said.

"She's got barrier two and a dry track on Saturday so she should bounce back to form but whether she has lost confidence in herself is the question.

"If she fires up she stays in training, if not she goes out and we start again with her."

Avionics has won five of her 27 starts and has won twice at the Valley.

While she is yet to win at stakes level, she went close at the end of her last campaign in Adelaide when a half-length fourth to Hanabananah in the Listed Proud Miss Stakes (1200m).

Last start the Flying Spur mare was a fading 12th to Avenue in the Listed Sportingbet Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on October 9.

Nick Hall is the new rider for Avionics who is at $23 with TAB Sportsbet.

The favourite is the Peter Snowden-trained Jerezana ($2.60) who was an eye-catching second last start when flashing home from near last in a big field to finish a half-length behind Status Symbol in the Listed Crown Promenade Stakes (1100m) at Flemington on Oaks day.

Miss Octopussy ($3.50) and Very Discreet ($5) also have support.
