PPD Club members would have been happy about Rabbuka's winning performance, too. It was nice to have tipped him as a 'longshot special' though dismaying to see the co-selection Rockwood hammered out of contention in that big squeeze-up early in the race. Hugh Bowman and Glen Colless both copped suspensions for careless riding.

Barry Baldwin's freak sprinter Burdekin Blues is heading for the Gold Coast next month and then Melbourne. Baldwin says the 900m Bat Out of Hell Quality on Jan 2 at the Coast could be his next run before he once again targets Melbourne's feature autumn races. The Lightning Stakes will be his #1 mission in February.
