Julienas cops penalty for Sydney Cup

Sydney Cup favorite Julienas has been penalised 1.5kg

Sydney Cup favorite Julienas has been penalised 1.5kg for his win in the NE Manion Cup (2400m). The Gai Waterhouse trained import had his rating lifted from 103 to 106 following the victory, which has led to a 1.5kg rise in the Sydney Cup weights. Julienas will now carry 55kg for the two-mile feature at Royal Randwick on April 27. Fellow Sydney Cup hopeful Aliyana Tilde escaped a penalty for her win in the Epona Stakes despite having her rating increased from 86 to 97. The Kerry Parker trained mare is still on the limit weight of 52kg.
