Heaps of footy but no racing...Melbourne's The Age has announced it will finish printing its racing guide The Form from next Friday and move the section entirely online...The move is apparently related to the non-renewal of the sponsorship agreement by the bookmaker SportsBet. This is said to have made the section uneconomical....The relationship is believed to have initially deteriorated when the paper separated its Friday form guide from the paper late last year, with home-delivery subscribers having to visit their local newsagent to retrieve the section.

At least The Age's pathetic move has stirred up the opposition...The Herald Sun (owned by News Ltd) says it's planning a 'gangbuster' promotion of its local form guide. Strategic partnerships director, Tom Salom, says: 'What we will be doing next week is promoting our seven-day-a-week form guide even more, via the paper and its database.'

The big question now is whether the Sydney Morning Herald will drop its formguide, sponsored by the NSW TAB?
