MOONEE Valley Racing Club officials will gain a greater insight tomorrow if Melbourne and Caulfield Cup winner Dunaden will contest the Sportingbet Cox Plate.

Dunaden, one of 20 international horses invited by the MVRC for the Cox Plate, contests the Grand Prix de Saint Cloud (2400 m) at Saint Cloud.

Talk after Dunaden’s last start second behind St Nicholas Abbey in the Coronation Cup was that he would be aimed at this year’s Prix de L’arc de Triomphe.

But recent speculation has Dunaden back in the mix to make a third successive trip to Melbourne.

Dunaden bumps into a hot field in the Grand Prix de Saint Cloud, headlined by three-time Group 1 winner Cirrus des Aigles.

Also in the race is the Ed Dunlop-trained Joshua Tree, who last year won the Prix de Kergorlay and Canadian International.

Mandour, owned by Princess Zahra Aga Khan, another of the horses invited by the MVRC for the Cox Plate, was a scratching from the Grand Prix de Saint Cloud. (www.racingnetwork.com.au)
