What on earth is going on at TVN? What's the real stoiry behind the sudden exit of John Hartigan from taking over as chairman? Racenet reports that Hartigan has referred to a 'dysfunctional board' for his decision to abandon the chairmanship. He was set to assume the role as part of a new governance structure but he walked away from the post after finding the "level of mistrust at board level" not to his liking. The Australian Turf Club, Victoria Racing Club, Melbourne Racing Club, Moonee Valley Racing Club and Country Racing Victoria are shareholders in TVN but Racing Victoria and Racing NSW also have seats on the board of the industry-owned television station. Hartigan informed the TVN board of his decision via a letter outlining his frustrations in Sydney on Wednesday, which Fairfax and News Limited newspapers obtained and published.
