It's all done with mirrors...Lloyd Williams is producing his annual juggling act just to keep us all in a knot over which horse is going where...He's now saying that his top stayer C'est La Guerre WILL run in the Caulfield Cup and that Efficient is likely to miss the Cox Plate and go straight into the Melbourne Cup. That leaves the #3 member of the team, Zipping, to tackle the Moonee Valley wfa classic. C'est La Guerre was paid-up for Sat's Grp 2 Herbert Power Stakes at Caulfield, but Williams says that's off the agenda. The tycoon owner says: 'The Caulfield Cup fits in well for him...We've paid up for him all along and after I decided against running in the Herbert Power, it was the logical race for him. He'll come out of the Herbert Power. I didn't bank on there being a maximum field of 16 and I didn't fancy running him with 57.5kgs from barrier 16.''

And what about Efficient, current fav for the Melbourne Cup? LW says: ''I think Efficient might go straight into the Melbourne Cup without another run...I don't think he needs another start. We're lucky we can do a lot of off-the-track work with him up at our place at Mt Macedon and the more I look at that race and his performance, the happier I am.''

Kerrin McEvoy is expected to be given confirmation overnight from England that he will ride Kirklees when Godolphin shoots for back-to-back wins in the Caulfield Cup.
