Dermot Weld’s Pale Mimosa was beaten into third place in France overnight after being taken out of quarantine for Australia.

She was being prepared by Weld, who has won the Melbourne Cup with Vintage Crop and Media Puzzle, for a trip to Flemington for the Australia's biggest race.

However, her connections decided to take Pale Mimosa out of quarantine to run in the prestigious Group 1 Prix du Cadran (4000m) at Longchamp on Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe day.

According to a report from At The Races, Pale Mimosa failed to stay the 4000 metres. After looking the winner she faded to run third.

"She has run a good race but the ground has dried out for her a bit.

"We'll get her home now, see how she comes out of the race and make a decision,” Weld said.
