Craig Newitt sits atop the leaderboard after Saturday's opening day of the international jockeys series at Selangor Turf Club, Kuala Lumpur.

One of his rides was scratched, but Newitt rode the winner of the other international jockeys race. The series features another Australian in Noel Callow, who’s representing Mauritius.

Newitt rode two other winners on the nine-race card.

The series finishes on Sunday, with Newitt riding the Laurie Laxon-trained Martin in the feature event.

Craig Williams rode a double from his three rides at Hanshin o Saturday as he continued to enjoy a productive contract in Japan.

And, in Mauritius Luke Currie posted the first winner of his six-month contract after opening his stint with four seconds.
