Yankee Rose ($11) has been best backed with TAB to win the Group 1 Golden Rose at Rosehill on Saturday with 39% of the money for the three year old.

Yankee Rose is the fourth elect behind Omei Sword ($3.20), Astern ($3.80) and Divine Prophet ($4.60).

“The market has undergone a massive change in the last 24 hours with Chris Waller confirming a start for Omei Sword. She was as much as $6 yesterday prior to Chris’ announcement but as soon as she was in the field she was elevated to $3.50 equal favourite with Astern. This morning she came up with barrier three while Astern drew wide in 12 and that caused another reshuffle with her trimming into $3.20 outright elect with Astern drifting to $3.80,” said TAB’s Glenn Munsie.

“Omei Sword will have to be good as only one filly has previously won the Golden Rose and that was Forensics when the race was run in the autumn as a result of equine influenza. No filly has won the Golden Rose when the race has been in the spring and 32 have tried.”

“The potential booking of Joao Moriera, depending on Hong Kong Jockey Club approval, is a sign of the regard held by the Waller stable of this filly’s ability and scope for improvement.”

“The 1400m start at Rosehill Gardens is no nightmare for wider barriers as runners have at least 300m before they start to hit a bend but connections were keen to ride Astern with a sit as they did in the Run To The Rose and he finished off well. He did of course draw wide in the Golden Slipper and went forward eventually tasting defeat for the first and only time.”
