International stayer Oceanographer has been backed from $4.40 into $3.80 to win tomorrow’s Geelong Cup.
Oceanographer, a $51 chance for the Melbourne Cup, is second elect behind Grey Lion, who has also firmed from $3.70 to $3.50.
"The Geelong Cup has been an excellent form reference towards the Melbourne Cup and this year there are a host of internationals looking to force their way into the race that stops a nation with a win,” says TAB’s Nick Quinn.
Qewy ($6.00) is the other horse in the field, alongside Oceanographer and Grey Lion, in Melbourne Cup nominations and is $151 for the big 3200m race.

Winx has firmed into her shortest price yet for the 2016 Cox Plate, in from $2.00 to $1.90 with TAB following Tuesday's barrier draw.
After drawing barrier seven Hartnell has drifted slightly from $2.80 to $3.00 with both Vadamos and Yankee Rose firming from $15 into $14.
“Following Winx drawing barrier three she has firmed from even money into a $1.90. She is clearly the punters pick with Hartnell getting a slightly sticky draw at barrier seven easing out to $3.00. At longer odds Vadamos and Yankee Rose have both firmed but as the days get closer expect to see the support continue to come for the defending champ, Winx,” said TAB’s Nick Quinn.
In the Manikato Stakes Chautauqua remains the clear favourite despite drifting from $2.00 to $2.10, with Capitalist ($6.00) and English ($9.00) next in the market.
