Punters are warming to a local Melbourne Cup chance with Jameka ($8.00), the only Australian bred horse in the field, best backed with TAB today.
The third elect has had 18% of the money today, with support also coming for Big Orange ($15) and Almandin ($16).
“Jameka is looking to become the 12th horse to complete the Caulfield Cup/Melbourne Cup double in the same year and punters are rallying behind her to do so,” TAB’s Nick Quinn said.
“She will, however, have to buck a recent trend as since Ethereal in 2001, nine of the 14 Caulfield Cup winners have run in the Melbourne Cup with Elvstroem’s fourth placing the best result.”
