TAB is up and running for betting on all the major Group One races on Day 1 of The Championships at Royal Randwick this Saturday. A total of four Group Ones will be held on the day including the time-honoured $3million The Star Doncaster Mile.
Hallowed Crown ($4.60) is the favourite for the race despite coming up with a horror draw (23). Sacred Falls, the two-time defending champion, is a $17 chance after drawing barrier 20.
Pornichet has been the biggest mover since Saturday. Prior to winning the final event at Rosehill he was a $51 chance, with TAB trimming his price into $15 after the victory. The Gai Waterhouse-trained runner is now at $8.
One TAB customer stands to win over $55,000 on Pornichet while another, who outlaid $1000 @ $26 on February 10, will win $26,000 on the same Waterhouse runner.
“It is quite unusual to see only a handful of changes after the barrier draw,” TAB’s Glenn Munsie said. “There were only a handful of chances under double figures according to the market earlier this morning before the draw was conducted. Since the draw that is still the case.”
