Sydneysiders get their chance to see Winx return to the track this Saturday in the Apollo Stakes with TAB installing the champion mare as a dominant $1.20 favourite as she looks to stretch her record to 14 straight wins.
“She started $1.60 in this race last year and no one needs to tell you what she has done since then,” TAB’s Glenn Munsie said.
“As far as the Queen Elizabeth is concerned, Winx actually firmed from $1.80 into $1.60 in the market after nominations were taken on Monday.
“Our customers haven’t been able to get enough of her in the Queen Elizabeth with over 95% of the straight out money and the same percentage of multi money on her in the market we put up with those horses we thought may have nominated for the race.”
“Lucky for our politicians there isn’t an election on as she probably get home in that too due to her appeal to both racing and non-racing types!”
Meanwhile, Hauraki is the $8.00 favourite in the Doncaster Mile ahead of Helene Paragon, Le Romain, McCreery and Omei Sword.
Sprint superstar Chautauqua has been installed as the $4.60 favourite to win the TJ Smith Stakes, ahead of Astern ($6.00), Flying Artie ($8.00) and Spieth ($8.00).
