SHAMEXPRESS ($7.50) is a popular pick to win the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes on Day One of the Royal Ascot carnival, says TAB.com.au's Matt Jenkins. The boom three-year-old steps out for the first time since winning the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap at Flemington on 9 March.

After opening $13 in May, the Danny O’Brien-trained colt has firmed to $7.50 after attracting good support.

“Shamexpress doesn’t have the same credentials as past Aussie winners, but is a promising talent who has straight track form,” said TAB’s Matt Jenkins.

Australian-trained runners – Choisir, Takeover Target, Miss Andretti, and Scenic Blast - have won the King’s Stand Stakes four times in the past 11 years.    

Adopted Aussie, Animal Kingdom ($1.65), is all the rage to win the first race of the carnival in the Queen Anne Stakes.

“Animal Kingdom is one of the marquee names of the carnival and its popularity with punters is no surprise.”
