PUNTERS have pounced immediately on import Forgotten Voice to win Wednesday’s Geelong Cup. TAB's Adam Hamilton told PPD: 'Just minutes before tab.com.au opened betting on the race today, one punter had $500 at $151 on Forgotten Voice to win the Melbourne Cup. A few others smaller bets followed and he’s now into $51.'
Then, a swarm of bets followed on the English stayer to win at Geelong. His odds have already crunched from $3 into $2.60.
“There’s been strong early interest in the race, but really just for Forgotten Voice. More than 90 per cent of what we’re holding so far is on him,” TAB’s Adam Hamilton said. “Tanby is the only other runner to attract significant support, which is hardly surprising given how well the stable is going.”
Forgotten Voice is trying to follow Media Puzzle (2002), Americain (2010) and Dunaden (2011) as imports to win the Geelong Cup/Melbourne Cup double.
In Geelong’s other feature, Gamblin Guru has been heavily-backed early ($3.40 into $2.70) to win the Geelong Classic.
There has been no real interest in Tupac Amaru ($3.50), who is only at $11 to win the Victoria Derby.
