BRETT Prebble believes Nicky Henderson should  consider backing up UK stayer Forgotten Voice in the Lexus Stakes at Flemington on Derby Day, reports Racing Network. Prebble said Forgotten Voice, a drifter from $2.70 to $3.60 favorite in the Geelong Cup, didn’t handle the rain affected ground.

He said the nine-year-old travelled well throughout the run, but going dow the hill, where the track was at its softest, Forgotten Voice didn’t appreciate it.

Forgotten Voice was unable to make any impression in the straight as he finished a well beaten fifth behind former UK stayer Ibicenco.

The nine-year-old needed tio win the Geelong Cup in a bid to gain a re-handicap and boost him up the elimination order of the Melbourne Cup.

Winners of the Group 3 Lexus Stakes carries with it an entry into the Melbourne Cup.

“He was going to win at the 900 (metres), but as soon as he went down the hill it was uneven ground and he didn’t want a bar of it,” Prebble said.

“His energy levels went low and my confidence levels went lower.

“He lost his confidence and could not get going again. He just couldn’t get his footing again.

“I would recommend running in the Lexus and hope he gets a good track.”
